The Bad Lands

After three long days on the road and more than 1,300 miles behind us, we’ve finally landed just outside Badlands National Park. We’re tucked into the wide-open Great Plains, where the rolling hills spill right into the dramatic cliffs of the Badlands.

Getting back into the rhythm of the nomadic life has felt effortless – like the past four months of being in one place never happened. It’s crazy how time flies.

This morning as we were having our coffee, a thunderstorm rolled through. The storm itself wasn’t wild or showy, but after three straight days of intense heat and sun, the cool winds and rain were incredibly refreshing.

We’re not sure how long we’ll stay here. There’s so much to see with scenic drives, short hikes, and wide open sunsets. Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Wall, The Black Hills, Sturgis, and Deadwood are all nearby. But Glacier and Yellowstone are also calling, and before long we’ll need to move north and west to stay ahead of the cold.

I’m excited about the places we’ll go, the memories we will make, and the inspiration that will come from it all. Travel always has a way of weaving itself into new designs, and I am excited for what will take shape after seeing all these new places.

For now, I just wanted to share this moment of arrival with you- our first stop on this 8 month journey. Wherever you are, I hope you’re finding your own adventures. And if you’re curious about what our camping lifestyle is really like, hit reply. I’d be happy to share more.
